For over 40 years, Omolege had been without a reliable electricity supply, and this project marked the community's first access to sustainable energy. In April 2022, Okra Solar, in collaboration with HOH Company, successfully electrified over 195 households and two primary healthcare centers in Omolege, a community in the Owo local government area of Ondo State. This project was a significant milestone for Okra Solar, leveraging its advanced mesh grid technology, which integrates digital monitoring, billing, and efficient energy distribution systems.
The electrification system used in Omolege consisted of small house systems (SHS) that included 200-watt solar panels, 50-amp batteries, and 600-watt inverters. Each system was equipped with a pod to serve as a charge controller and regulate the energy distribution, ensuring a stable power supply. These systems were specifically designed to meet the energy needs of households and critical community services.
